Working to Make a Difference for People and Communities

Enterprise is a national leader in helping communities build and preserve safe, healthy, quality housing that’s affordable for people with low and moderate incomes. Through our programs and partnerships, we also ensure that affordable housing is connected to other critical resources all people need to be successful, like education, transportation, health care, child care and employment.

We achieve large-scale results by working with partners across the private and public sectors, including community leaders, financial institutions, foundations and policymakers at all levels of government.

Were it not for Enterprise, much of the affordable housing that has been created over the past 30 years, especially for the lowest-income renters, would not exist. Going forward, our leadership and our partnerships are critical in shaping the new programs and policies that are needed to address the growing affordable housing crisis.

Our Results

  • Enterprise has created or preserved nearly 300,000 affordable homes nationwide, for more than 1 million people.
  • We have raised and deployed $11 billion in capital nationwide to help communities create and preserve affordable homes and community facilities.
  • Our work has created 140,000 jobs nationwide – 19,000 in 2010 alone.
  • We created the first national standard for green affordable housing, and all 50 states and HUD have adopted green standards in their funding programs.
  • Adults have the stability to get training for higher-paying jobs, and to keep and succeed in their jobs.
  • Because of Enterprise, someone moves into a better place to live every 55 minutes, every day of the year.

What It Means

  • Low-income people have more to spend on critical needs, such as food, transportation, health care, and child care.
  • Children are healthier and better able to succeed in school.
  • Adults have the stability to get training for a higher-paying job, and to keep and succeed in job.
  • Once-struggling neighborhoods become strong and vibrant, giving residents the opportunity for a better future.
